OUR
STORY
The Town of Woodland was officially incorporated on August 28, 1965. This significant milestone marked the transition of Woodland from a small community into an organized municipality. At its inception, Woodland had a modest population of 154 residents, which has since grown to approximately 250 residents today.
The first Mayor of Woodland was Mr. Winfred R. Lovvorn, who played a pivotal role in guiding the town during its early days. Alongside him were the first council members: Ellis Ray Strain, Rex D. Lashley, Kermit V. Noles, Amos T. Williams, and Lowell McManus. Together, they laid the groundwork for local governance and community development that would shape Woodland's future.

Since its incorporation, Woodland has continued to evolve while maintaining its small-town charm. The leadership established in those formative years set a precedent for civic engagement and community involvement that persists today as residents work together to enhance their quality of life in this vibrant town.

The creation of the Town of Woodland is not just a date on a calendar; it represents the collective efforts and aspirations of its residents who sought to create a thriving community where families could grow and prosper together. As we reflect on our history, we celebrate our past while looking forward to a bright future for the Town of Woodland.
